	What's new in TV and home theater David Katzmaier CNET.com LG local-dimming LED among the best The LE8500 has a full-array backlight with local dimming, meaning hundreds of independent cells behind the screen can brighten or dim independently. In contrast, most other LED-backlit TVs have either no local-dimming ability or attempt to mimic the dimming of a full array by creating zones from an edge-lit configuration. If the LE8500 is any indication, full-array local dimming works better. Thanks to a late CableCard installation, I'm not quite ready to wrap up the full review on the product, but I've seen enough to share some detailed impressions. And it is, in many ways, a tale of two TiVos. Read more  Check prices Crave Logitech goes for broke with $50 Harmony remote John Falcone Just four weeks ago, Logitech unveiled two new entry-level models in its popular universal remote line, the $80 Harmony 600 and the $100 Harmony 650. Apparently, though, those models just weren't cheap enough for Logitech. The company has now taken the wraps off the Harmony 300, which will retail for just $50--making it the most affordable Logitech remote to date. You'll need to buy a new Blu-ray player, new TV, and possibly a new receiver. Oh, and don't forget to factor in the cost for extra 3D glasses for family and friends.
