Pansonic's 2010 standard-definition camcorders all have that unnecessary 70x zoom lens. I can imagine there may be some uses--aside from creating TMZ videos--for a standard-definition camcorder that requires a tripod for half of its zoom range, but I can't think of any. Still, our reviewer thinks it has some redeeming features for the money.

Eye-Fi gets Venti
While the big Eye-Fi news this year was the company's move to SDHC and 802.11n Wi-Fi with its new Pro X2 card at CES in January, Eye-Fi now follows up by bringing its Explore and Connect cards into the X2 age and expands its free hot-spot network. Read more
Faking miniatures the Canon way
It seems like creative shooting modes are popular on this year's compact cameras. For example, though Canon has long given its cameras controls for playing with colors, this year it's just gone and added a handful of simple point-and-shoot options for getting more unusual results. One of them, Miniature Effect, applies a selective focus to scenes making full-size, real-life subjects look like miniature models. Read more

I have to admit--I'm in complete awe at the capability of Adobe's PR machine to instigate and maintain a steady buzz about a product months before it's even official without ever having to lie, pretend to leak, or have a well-known evangelist equipped with a reality distortion field Read more

I have been thinking about buying a Canon EOS 40D Combo and I'm just not sure if it's going to be worth the money to buy one.

I want to do portraits, glamour, sports, and wildlife shooting.

I was also wondering why it's better to buy the body separate from the lens. I need some suggestions. Please help me.  Read more
