Panasonic's 3D plasma reviewed; top 10 greatest speakers

There's plenty of hype surrounding 3D TV, much of it promulgated by the people at Panasonic, but the main reasons we like the TC-PVT20/25 series so much are contained by the traditional two dimensions. It's the best 2D TV we've ever tested, although we'll reserve final judgment until we can examine competitors' best 2010 HDTVs.

Along with all the big E3 news from Sony, the company also announced a new, PS3-friendly sound bar home theater system, the CECH-ZVS1. Despite being described as "for the PlayStation 3," nothing in the announcement suggests that it's different from any other sound bar, except for some PS3-like styling. Read more

I've been an audiophile for more than 30 years, and from where I stand there's never been a more exciting crop of high-end speakers to choose from. The goal--to make as lifelike a sounding speaker as possible--is exceedingly difficult, but that hasn't stopped a slew of very talented designers from trying. This top-10 list was created without price constraints and is presented in no particular order; the speakers are all exceptional performers (prices listed are for pairs of speakers).  Read more
