CNET reviews Canon EOS 7D

With entirely new AF and metering systems, a new high-resolution eight-channel readout sensor coupled with dual Digic 4 image processors and a new 100 percent coverage viewfinder, plus 1080p video capture, the 7D looks like an aggressive attempt by Canon to make a comeback against Nikon's D300s. Overall, it looks like it succeeds.

Updated: HD camcorders for less than $600

Here's a roundup of some of the least-expensive, top-of-the-line models we've looked at thus far. Read more
End blurry snapshots, cheap
Despite point-and-shoot camera manufacturers' best efforts to reduce the effects of hand shake--digitally, optically, and mechanically--as long as you're holding the camera there's a very good chance you'll end up with blurry shots. Read more
What a $5,900 lens says about photography

Ah, long live the year-end listicle. What did we ever read (or write) in December before the media came up with the idea of compiling and disseminating lists of the best, most popular, strangest and stupidest? Here's my contribution to the tradition for 2009--oh wait, there's also my Holiday Gift Guide offering--a potpourri of camcorder popularity as based on how many people read reviews of a product since last New Year's. Second, What's cine mode? What's p mode?

Third, I don't understand how to manual focus. I changed to manual, but can't find how to move focus.  Read more
